General Furry Scurry FAQs

The Furry Scurry is an annual, fun-filled festival and two-mile dog walk at Denver’s Washington Park to benefit the animals at the Dumb Friends League. This year, people can gather in person on Saturday, May 4 OR walk from afar between now and May 24 (although we hope you’ll choose May 4 for your “virtual” stroll)! No matter where you scurry, every step you take and dollar you raise will make a lasting difference for the animals in our care.

To celebrate our 31st year, we’re offering a range of fun activities we know you’ll love – from contests to food truck fare. If a remote experience is more your style, you can register and walk the two miles wherever you wish with a canine or feline friend by your side!

Furry Scurry registration fees and donations transform the lives of vulnerable pets and horses at the League and across Colorado. We provide high-quality care to more than 44,000 animals each year, with most of our funding coming from generous supporters like you. Fundraisers like the Furry Scurry are essential for the League to continue our shelter, rehabilitation, veterinary, and community services for the animals and people who need us most.

We sure do! Please see below:

Definitely! People can either fundraise on their own or boost their impact by teaming up! Furry Scurry teams consist of two or more people who are working together toward a fundraising goal. The more people on your team, the more you can help the Dumb Friends League!

Like individual participants, team members can earn amazing incentive items when they fundraise. These items are based on the amount each team member raises (rather than the team’s overall total). Likewise, teams are eligible to win additional awards on the day of the event. Teamwork really does make the dream work!
No, you can register now and walk anytime through May 24. If you wish to walk alongside the Furry Scurry community in Washington Park, the official event day is Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m. – noon (onsite registration starts at 7:30 a.m.).

Yes! Online registration will CLOSE on Wednesday, May 1, but don’t worry! You can definitely still scurry. Onsite registration is available in person at the Furry Scurry Packet Pick-Up event (timing and location TBD) on Friday, May 3 and beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Washington Park on Saturday, May 4.
Registered participants can walk/run with or without their furry friend by their side. NOTE: While you are welcome to bring your dog(s) to the in-person event, we ask that your cat(s) and other pets stay home or walk with you remotely.

Also, before the big day, please carefully consider whether a lively event like the Furry Scurry is right for your dog. Depending on factors such as age, health, personality, and history with people and other animals, dogs can be very sensitive to environments filled with unfamiliar and potentially overwhelming stimuli. If this sounds like your dog, we encourage you to either walk together remotely or attend the in-person gathering with your friends of the human variety.
